The River Ness is the jewel of walking in Inverness, and it runs just a few minutes from the cafe. A stroll along its banks is a delight at any time of year, with the water on one side and handsome buildings on the other. Follow the river south and you reach the Ness Islands, a string of small wooded islands linked by elegant Victorian footbridges. It is a peaceful, leafy spot, popular with locals and visitors alike, and it makes for a lovely there and back or circular walk that returns you neatly to the city centre and to us.

Closer still, Inverness Castle sits on its hill just a short walk up from Church Street, with views over the river and the rooftops. The city is also the finishing point of the Great Glen Way, the long distance route that runs all the way from Fort William, so if you are completing that famous walk, we are a fitting place to celebrate.
